The much famous Reptile House in Northeastern Breda started off as a leisurely pursuit of a group of animal lovers and gradually took the form of a safe haven for reptiles of nearly all sorts. The harpetarium emerged as a top tourist attraction of Breda over the period of two years. The environment has been artificially built to emulate the characteristics of the natural habitats where the vertebrates live and grow. Reptile House the Earth offers four creatively thought out entry packages that are aimed at giving fuller entertain to different segments of visitors. For children parties, the Reptile House offers exciting packages mainly on weekdays. On the other hand, the harpetarium also offers custom-made packages for small group of executives who want to meet and discuss business staying closer to nature. For those interested in vivarium management and animal handling, the Reptile House staffs offer a great course. The House has special packages for school kids coming in groups. Students have also an option to serve internships on selected weekdays.

Internship opportunities

Reptile House is a training institute accredited by Aequor and it offers excellent internship opportunities to students in and around Breda. Trainees or interns can closely study reptiles and tropical plants fom Wednesday through Sunday. Students must attend training programs at least 4 days in a week and get a chance to be placed in some of the biggest zoos across Netherlands. Interested ones can apply to the authority with updated resume. Besides, anybody who wish to help the owners in animal handling can work here as volunteers. People can also learn a lot about basic zoo keeping by asking questions to the zookeepers of the Reptile House De Aarde.

A refuge for reptiles

Reptile House is one of the safest havens for reptiles in Breda. Upon visiting this House, you can learn a lot about lizards, hoses, crocodile like reptiles, and tortoise. Some of the resident amphibians are toads, salamanders and frogs. Spin and scorpions are some of the members of the Arthropod family. Different species of all the reptile families are housed under the same roof and the owners have made excellent arrangement for these innocent reptiles.

A host of extras beyond the entry fee

For kids aged between 3 months and 11 years, entry fee is � 6.50 per head. For visitors aged between 12 and 64 years, entry to the Reptile House de Aarde costs � 7.50. Senior citizens need to pay a little less (� 6.50 per head. Whatever the entry fees are, the Reptile House offers a host of extras that include hot and cold beverages, free parking, wheelchair access, and a smoking zone for adults on the terrace.


The precise location of the Reptile House is Aardenhoek 26, 4817NE, Breda. The House remains open from Wednesday through Sunday from 10 am till 8 pm.
