The use of password protection to control or restrict access to the Auxiliary port of your router or switch is one of the fundamental elements of an overall security plan after physically securing your backbone network equipment. In this example, we will show you how to setup a password protection for the Auxiliary port. Switch1>en Switch1#conf t Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z. Switch1(config)#line aux 0 Switch1(config-line)#password mypassword Switch1(config-line)#login Switch1(config-line)#end Switch1#wr Building configuration... [OK] Switch1# wr command above will save the configuration to the Start-up configuration. It's the same command as copy running-config startup-config.
