configuring dhcp vendor class options on windows server 2008 r2

If you need to define DHCP options for specific devices such as specific vendor devices, Avaya IP Phones (176 not 242) and other vendor class network devices, you will need to define that in the DHCP Server. This example will show you how to define DHCP Vendor Class Options on Server 2008 R2. To Define Vendor specific option 1. Open the DHCP service console: Start->Programs->Administrative Tools->DHCP 2. Right Click IPv4, select Set Predefined Options 3. Click Add to manually add a new option 4. Enter an option name (eg: SSON), set the Data Type to String and Code to 242 (for Avaya 9600 series phones). Click Ok when done. 5. Right click the scope option and and select Configure Option then add the newly created option
