Borobudur is Buddhist Temple situated in Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia. It is the largest Buddhist temple of the world. It was built in the beginning of 8th century by Syailendra Dynasty. This monument consists of nine well-developed rostrum, six squares and three circular, place on by central dome. The temple is beautified by 2,672 relief cabinet and 504 Buddha statues. Borobudur is placed in an eloquent area between two corresponding volcanoes, Sundoro-Sumbling and Merbabu-Merapi and between two rivers, the Progo and the Elo. Buddhist architecture defined a theory that Borobudur originally described a lotus flower floating on lake. It has been believed that Borobudur was framed on a bedrock hill, 265m above sea level and 15m above ground of withered paleolake. Borobudur mean abbey on a hill. It is compound of two words Bara and Buduhur. Bara is a Sangskrit word which mean composite of temples monasteries and Buduhur is a Javanese word which mean superior. According to the Buddhist view the Borobudur temple building is classified into three categories. These are Kamadhatu, Rupadhatu and Arupadhatu. 1. Kamadhatu is the bottom level of temple, covered with an extra wall; it is the world of wishes. 2. Rupadhatu is the second level where people share their worries and worldly sorrows. It has four terrace and 504 Buddha statues are placed on this level. 3. Arupadhatu is third level and there people pray for their perfection and sophistication. The monument is holy place for Lord Buddha and for Buddhist tour. Borobudur has the largest masse of Buddhist comfort in the world. There is no record that why and who built Borobudur. At that time, many Buddhist and Hindus temples were built on the mountains around the Kedu Plain. The Buddhist Temple along with Borobudur was raised around same time as the Hindus Shiva Prambanan temple compound. In Indonesia Borobudur is the most visited tourist attraction. Annually, almost 2.5 million people visit the Temple. Every year during the full moon of May or June Buddhist celebrate Vesak which is the official national holiday in Indonesia. The Buddhist remembers the birth, death and the time when Siddhartha Gautama got the highest wisdom to become the Buddha Shakyamuni. Borobudur is still used for tour.
