what to wear to a wedding

Weddings are a special, once-in-a-lifetime. Everything that happens on that day is bound to be remembered for the years to come. What the bride looks like, the groom’s reaction when he sees the bride walking down the aisle, the smiling faces of the entourage—almost everything will be documented. And guess what? Your outfit for the day will be on that couple’s wedding album for all eternity. Clearly, you must put some great thought into what you will wear to that wedding. Here are some tips to help you do just that:

Follow the theme – Weddings mostly come with themes or motifs. If you’re part of the entourage, then there’s almost nothing to worry about as these are provided by the couple. But if you’re just a regular guest, it’s best to follow the theme anyway. Wear your best suit or dress but be sure to stick to the color motif.

For Traditional Church Weddings – For traditional weddings, it’s best to stick to formal attire. Guys, put on your best suits or a tux. Ladies, an elegant dress will do the job. Make sure it’s quite conservative or appropriate enough for a church setting. Avoid low cut or cocktail dresses and go for long ones. Wear pearls or small stones for accessories.

For Garden Weddings – Garden weddings are less formal than church weddings, but nonetheless still quite a formal setting. Guys, you can tone down to a simple suit if preferred. A simple long sleeved shirt will do as well. For the ladies, a semi-formal dress will do. A sundress, depending on the setting, can be considered too.

For Beach Weddings – Ladies, here’s your best chance of wearing a good sundress. Guys can even go with a simple, yet presentable collar shirt and shorts. Still, stick to what the couple prefer their guests to wear. Although a beach wedding is not that quite of a formal setting, ask the couple first before actually wearing beachwear to their wedding.

Just remember to wear your best clothes – Something you’re comfortable in and something you wouldn’t complain being seen in—even years from now when you look back at the wedding pictures.
