Tristan da Cunha
Tristan da Cunha is an archipelago of islands found in the southern Atlantic Ocean. It’s considered to be the most remote place worldwide. This island is enclosed by choppy waters and a rocky terrain. The only way to access it is by boat. Its closest neighbors are South America and South Africa which are 2,000 and 1,700 miles from it respectively. There are 297 people who inhabit this island whose occupations include farming and crafts making.
This tiny town in Canada is situated on the edge of the Nunavat region. It’s just 500 miles under the North Pole. Annually, it has a population of five people. Alert is no doubt one of the very remote regions. Temperatures here can go as low as -40 degrees. On this island, it’s highly likely to have 24-hours of darkness or sunlight during winter and summer respectively.
It’s also known as Alien Island due to its weird looking trees. One-third of animals and plants species found on this island can’t be found anywhere else in the world. Socotra Island gives amazing wildlife and landscape views.
Pitcairn Island, South Pacific
Currently, only 50 people live on this island and the British government has been trying to convince citizens to relocate there. The Pitcairn Island is blessed with the most beautiful natural resources like its crystal clear blue waters and marvelous green hills.
It’s part of Chile with mystifying ancient culture that is found nowhere else in the world. It’s full of carved big stone heads.
This town is fondly known as the “coldest town on earth”. Here, only a few people can withstand its cold temperatures with can go even below 20 degrees Fahrenheit. However you can only get there by car after a two day drive.
These islands have no original inhabitants and currently its occupants are 50-100 French researchers and scientists. The islands are on the southern Indian Ocean covered with Glaciers and Rocky Mountains. If you want to visit, planning in advance is mandatory since you can only get there by ship which goes there only four times annually.
McMurdo Station, Antarctica
Antarctica is virtually at the bottom of the universe. It has no original inhabitants. Only researchers are found here. In fact, McMurdo station harbors the highest number of scientists. You have to be a scientist, military person or artist to get there-by military jets.
Motuo County, China
This is one of the highly isolated places in the world. It’s completely cut off from its neighboring towns. Due to the erratic landscape, constructing a road has been rendered impossible. The county experiences frequent avalanches and mudslides.
