It can be really irritating when your computer or laptop take ages to boot up or in simple language to open. It can be devastating when you are in a hurry or you are late for the long waited presentation and your computer is taking too long to open. Your boss breathing fire on your neck or teachers thinking about your grade or even if you just want to use your computer, lengthy booting time can always be annoying. This problem can be solved with a simple editing in the registry editor.
Registry editor stores all software’s and programs information that are running inside your computer. To find and run the registry editor, you need to click the Start button from your desktop then click on the menu Run and type “regedit” and then press OK. These instructions are for Windows XP or Windows 7 only. You will see a window pops up named Registry editor.
Now click the (+) sign beside the folder named “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE”
Next Click (+) sign beside the key “SYSTEM”
Click (+) beside the key “CurrentControlSet”
After that Click (+) besides Control
Again click (+) beside the Key “Session Manager”
Now click “Memory Management”. Now you will see a list of names with values besides them.
Find “DisablePagingExecutive” and right click. Now click on Modify and a new window will appear called “edit DWORD Value”.
In the part called Base, click on Decimal and put 1 as the value in the “Value Data” field.
Click OK and close Registry Editor Window.
Now try restarting your computer and hopefully it will boot up faster than before.
Please note that do not edit anything else in the Registry editor unless you are an expert programmer.Publisher: Fadiyah Sameh
